Conference Workshop Levels

Workshop Level: Introductory (new to energy psychology)

Workshops labeled Introductory  teach the basics. This level is for those who are new to energy psychology. If you are new to the field, we strongly recommend attending these learning labs, as they have been specially designed for all professionals who are new to energy psychology. These are A1, B1, C1, E1 and F1.

Workshop Level: All

Workshops labeled All  presuppose a basic knowledge of energy psychology, but do not require a great deal of energy psychology exposure/experience to understand. For example, an All workshop focused on meridian tapping and eating disorders might teach the basic EFT recipe as well as the specific application to the issues presented with eating disorders.

Workshop Level: Intermediate-Advanced 

Workshops labeled Intermediate-Advanced  presuppose considerable knowledge and experience with energy psychology. For example, an Intermediate-Advanced  workshop on the use of EFT with eating disorders would not teach the basic EFT recipe. It would assume that the attendee knows this information and would focus more on the specific application to the issues presented with eating disorders.

A1. The Ethical Practice of Muscle Testing

Anne Jensen, MSc, MS, PhD, earned her PhD from Oxford University, researching the validity of muscle testing. Through her background in chiropractic and psychology, her empathic ability and sense of curiosity, she developed HeartSpeak, a unique and empowering stress-reduction tool.

A8. Science of Compassion: Interventions for Energy Practices

Lori Chortkoff Hops, PhD, DCEP

Level: Intermediate-Advanced

This presentation summarizes scientific research on compassion and its outcomes on physical and mental health, from meta-analyses and systematic reviews. Psychometric measures of compassion are analyzed. Participants learn about six compassion intervention programs that have been studied using randomized control trials and practice compassion meditations from these programs. Suggestions are offered for combining compassion interventions with existing energy practices. The workshop addresses the ethical, moral and cultural implications of compassion practice.

There is a great need for more therapists to serve people with disabilities. We will focus on how to help traumatized people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Learn alternative approaches, how to use Thought Field Therapy algorithms and individualized diagnostic sequences, and the impact of poly-medication.

  • List 2 alternatives to deliver a TFT treatment if the patient is unable to tap upon themselves.

Nora Baladerian, PhD, a psychologist, specializes in trauma work for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism and cerebral palsy. She serves victims of crime and of accidents. Nora primarily uses Thought Field Therapy with trauma victims.

 

Suzanne Connolly, LCSW, LMFT, is a clinical social worker, MFT, and substance abuse counselor. She serves on ACEP’s Board. Suzanne has participated in three research studies in Rwanda, which have been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has conducted TFT trainings throughout the United States, and in France, Israel, Kuwait, Canada, Rwanda, Japan, and Mexico.

B5. Healing U.S. Historical Racial Trauma: A Family Energetics Systemic Constellation

We review perspectives and tools of the Family Energetics integration of EP with Systemic Constellations, showing that trauma behaves and heals similarly on four scales. You will then participate in a live constellation on important historical and racial traumas currently impacting the United States.

B8. Transforming PTSD: 
A Deeper Look at
Memory Reconsolidation

Phil Mollon, PhD, DCEP

Neuroscience provides some understanding of the difference between traumatic memories and autobiographical memories. A core dilemma in work with PTSD is that activation of traumatic memory may carry the risk of exacerbation of symptoms.   The neuroscience of memory reconsolidation may offer a way to minimize this risk. Studies have found acupoint tapping methods to be effective in working with traumatic memories. We'll critically review memory reconsolidation and how it may be helpful in explaining the effectiveness of acupoint tapping. The importance of temporal factors is discussed.

  • State 1  core dilemma in working with traumatic memories in PTSD.

  • Distinguish memory reconsolidation from classical extinction counterconditioning.

  • State and explain the temporal factors that research has shown to be important in memory reconsolidation.

Phil Mollon, PhD, DCEP is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst from England. He teaches energy psychology widely in the UK and is the developer of Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy [PEP] and Blue Diamond Healing. He is ACEP's immediate past president.

B9. Integrating Western Psychological Approaches with Native American Rituals

We will explore some of the relationships between energy psychology and the use of healing rituals that are still practiced by Native American communities today. In addition, we will examine the art and practice of forming healing alliances with Native American Nations.

Eleanor Hamilton, PhD, LPC, has been working with Native American populations for over 40 years. She became aware of the impact of generational trauma by listening to the stories of individuals and their families, as well as studying the tragic effects of genocide, violence, loss and relocation.

We will explore the history of acupuncture meridians and the confluence of events that resulted in meridian-based energy psychology. You will learn how meridian acupoints are applied by tapping, touching, or other stimulation in a variety of energy psychology procedures.

C3. HBLU Clearing Protocols
for Effective Muscle Testing

Many people report having difficulty trusting the accuracy of the answers they get by muscle testing. Learn several common patterns that cause inaccuracy or deception in muscle testing and how to interpret confusing signals. Amy Frost, MBA, MA, is a trainer and facilitator. She was the ground mother for the ACEP Veteran to Veteran Project. She actively supports Las Vegas citizens in the aftermath of the Oct 1, 2018 shooting.

Rachel Michaelsen, LCSW, DCEP, chair of ACEP's Humanitarian Committee, has been using energy psychology for 15+ years. She teaches courses in addressing trauma through EP to agencies serving foster and system involved youth. Rachel works with individuals and groups in Berkeley, CA.

  

Kristin Miller, PhD, DCEP, psychologist, TFT and TTT humanitarian trainer, specializes in the treatment of developmental inter-generational trauma. She has been active in the development of ACEP humanitarian projects and community trauma management programs, including Resources for Resilience.

 

Jondi Whitis is a master trainer and Board member with AAMET International. She delivers professional EFT training, along with other EP modalities, in workshops across the country. A former teaching artist in NYC schools, she is passionate about bringing EP and emotional wisdom to children.
